Taco Bell tests Baja Blast gelato

If you go out of your way to get Mountain Dew’s Baja Blast at Taco Bell, you’re in for a real treat. For the first time ever, Taco Bell is releasing a gelato. And it’s not just any gelato, it’s a Mtn Dew Baja Blast gelato. For now, it’s only available in Irvine, CA, but assuming it does well, keep your eyes out for a gelato blast near you. Taco Bell has also hinted at another Baja Blast innovation coming out sometime this fall.

Wawa experiments with gas-less convenience

Long beloved for its comfort food options, the convenience chain Wawa has decided to test a drive-thru restaurant in Florida. Instead of gas, customers can get anything from mashed potatoes to almond-milk coffee. While the initial drive-thru restaurant was announced to be built in Pennsylvania in 2020, this drive thru marks the first to be tested in a new state. Wawa hopes to continues its expansion, opening 1,800 new stores by 2030.

Sephora and J.P. Morgan enable contactless payments

Partnering with J.P. Morgan Payments, Sephora is rolling out Tap to Pay across its U.S. fleet. The initiative will allow consumers to make purchases anywhere in the store using the Point of Sale app and their iPhone. Sephora hopes to elevate the shopping experience while J.P. Morgan Payments looks forward to expanding to additional merchants, providing a simpler checkout process for all users.

Walmart adds Wings to delivery

While Walmart has been experimenting with drones for some time now — completing over 10,000 deliveries to date — they are now joining forces with Wing, an Alphabet drone-delivery provider. The duo plans to test the service in two Dallas stores, reaching 60,000 additional homes.
