Big-name retailers pilot reusable containers
Walmart, Sobeys, and Metro are all joining forces in Ottawa, Canada to test out a use-and-return program for reusable containers. Shoppers won’t even need to clean the containers–the retailers will do that for them. The hope is to significantly reduce the amount of single-use plastics by encouraging consumers to return their used containers to the retailers.
BP experiments with food-to-go options
Having seen an increase in shop-only visitors, and anticipating longer customer visits due to EV charging, BP is piloting a made-to-order food service at select Wild Bean Cafes in the UK. Through the end of April 2024, customers can enjoy crispy herby chicken burgers, fish finger sandwiches, and a variety of baps.
CITGO Petroleum Corp. and Folk Oil Co. begin pilot of EV charging
CITGO and Folk Oil are teaming up with AGI, a national electric company, to pilot an EV charging station in Michigan. According to a study published in August 2023, gasoline stations average 104 per 1000 miles while EV stations average 22. CITGO hopes the addition of charging stations will help meet the needs of all forms of transportation.
