MarketDial champions all retailers who test. And, while we undoubtedly want retailers to design their in-store tests on our app, we believe anyone conducting tests deserves a shout-out. Join us each month as we raise a toast to some of the remarkable initiatives being tested by diverse retail organizations.
Harris Teeter experiments with DMV kiosks
Want to skip those obnoxiously long lines to renew your driver’s license? The solution may be just around the corner — in North Carolina, that is. Three Harris Teeter locations are joining forces with Intellectual Technology Inc. to install DMV kiosks in store, with plans to expand when on transaction thresholds are reached. Each transaction will cost consumers a minimal $4.95 fee.
Babson Diagnostics and H-E-B pilot blood testing in Texas

Lowe’s and Google test retail media collaboration
As third-party cookies disappear due to privacy laws, Google is innovating ways for retailers to optimize first-party data. They have recently partnered with Lowe’s to pilot a new retail media network solution that enables first-party data to be shared with brand partners while still protecting user privacy.
Chick-fil-A offers pickled pizza in their test kitchen
On “Pi” day, Chick-fil-A announced a new test kitchen item: pizza. From the typical pepperoni pie, to a pizza covered in chicken nuggets and pickles, the restaurant chain is experimenting with new menu items. For now, there is not discussion of expansion of the product beyond the test kitchen into the restaurants themselves. But a sure-fire way to know if the innovative menu addition might be worth it would be to test it out in the broader market.
DoorDash and Wendy’s take flight
DoorDash is hopping on the drone delivery bandwagon in partnership with a Wendy’s store in Christiansburg, Va. Having already tested a similar concept in Australia, the delivery chain ultimately hopes to expand drone drop offs to the grocery sector.
